Installing a portable sprinkler irrigation system with aluminum pipes is a process most farmers can handle independently. This guide explains every step in detail.
Step 1: Plan Your Layout
Before any assembly, measure your plot and draw a plan on paper. The main line (90mm or 110mm) runs from the pump toward the center or along one side. Lateral lines (50mm or 70mm) branch at right angles, spaced 12-18 meters apart depending on sprinkler type.
For a 5-hectare plot, a typical layout includes: 20 pipes of 90mm for the main line (120m) and 60 pipes of 50mm for laterals.
Step 2: Prepare the Ground
Clear the route of rocks, branches, and debris. The terrain doesn't need to be perfectly flat - aluminum pipes adapt to gentle undulations. Mark sprinkler positions with stakes or flags.
Step 3: Assemble the Main Line

Step 4: Install Lateral Lines
At branching points, use reducers to transition from larger to smaller diameter (e.g., 90mm to 50mm). Lay lateral lines along marked positions. Mount sprinklers at designated points. Close line ends with caps (male or female).
Step 5: Test the System
Start the pump at lower pressure (50-70% of working pressure). Check every joint for leaks. Pay special attention to collars and couplings. Gradually increase to working pressure. Adjust sprinklers for uniform coverage - no dry zones. Verify adequate pressure at end-of-line sprinklers.
